An interesting thought, Bart. I can understand what you’re saying. However some people believe that just the very act of ‘going’ to serve in a war in a foreign land, leaving your family and your life behind and going into a total unknown, not knowing if you’ll come home, is a heroic act in and of itself. Many would not do that. Think about it. It’s scary! Scott served a year in Vietnam….we were married and our daughter was 1 years old when he left. It was a very hard year for all of us. I guess we could say there are all degrees of heroism. But I see your point.
